Taiping, Malaysia – Destination #8

The trip to Taiping on the bus went fast with the beautiful Malaysian mountains all around!
Taiping, in the Perak State, is in northern Malaysia. Like many cities in the country, this town also has a long history and has been influenced by the colonial era, as seen in the variety of architecture.
While there, I visited a center reaching out to disabled persons and stayed with the director and his family at their home. It was really inspiring to see the dedication of the servants I met, and I hope I can catch their vision and be willing to humble myself and help others in the same way! Here above, at the work center, some of the participants are making soft seat covers for chairs as they develop in technical, relational, and personal skills.
During the Japanese invasion of Malaysia, many Muslim, Hindu, and Christian soldiers died defending this land. The Taiping War Cemetery was built to remember those souls who sacrificed their lives.
